Tapis (Traditional cloth from Lampung)

Tapis is a traditional weaving style from Lampung, Indonesia. It consists of a striped, naturally colored cloth with warped and couched gold thread, shaped in stripes, chevrons, traditionally using floral motifs.

Tapis is worn as a sarong for weddings, Eid-UL Fitri, and welcoming ceremony. It could also be used as a wall decoration. when it worn, it form a cylinder around the wearer's legs. Generally, the older tapis, the more it costs. Antique tapis is also collected both Indonesians and foreigners. In conclusion, Tapis become the symbols of Lampung.
